The Impossible Interviews
Monday 31 Dec 2012
Stars Ewan McGregor and Naomi Watts and director JA Bayona talk to Alan Corr about the challenges in making the tsunami drama.
JA Bayona directs Ewan McGregor and Naomi Watts in The Impossible, a remarkable film about the Indian Ocean tsunami that works as both a gripping drama and a big-screen spectacle.
The big-budget disaster movie is often a byword for silly effects and cardboard characterisation, but Bayona delivers stunning set pieces and real emotion. That he does all this without resorting to CGI makes The Impossible all the more impressive.
