A presence in four decades of Irish music, the years have been kind to The Harvest Ministers' Will Merriman as a singer and songwriter, and 'Strange Love Letter' finds him picking out the sweet and world weary from the mixed bag of experience.

As an opening trio of songs, 'Life Just Put Her in My Way', 'So You Finally Struck Oil' and 'Tombstone Eyes' would find favour with the fussiest of dads, lovers or Mojo readers, jumping from string-soaked country to edgy desert soundtrack and back again.

While they're the standouts, there are no chores here - just puzzlement that Merriman's craft doesn't receive more attention. A good feeling is guaranteed from righting that in your own little way.
