Stars pay tribute to Brittany Murphy

Tributes have been paid to the actress Brittany Murphy, who has died in Los Angeles at the age of 32.

The '8 Mile' and 'Clueless' star died on Sunday after suffering a cardiac arrest at her home.

The entertainment website TMZ.com reported that Murphy was found unconscious in the shower by her mother Sharon.

The star's husband, writer and director Simon Monjack, called the emergency services and she was brought to Cedars-Sinai Medical Center where she was confirmed dead.

The star's family has appealed for privacy.

A statement read: "In this time of sadness, the family thanks you for your love and support. It is their wish that you respect their privacy."

Paying tribute to his former girlfriend and 'Just Married' co-star, Ashton Kutcher wrote on his Twitter page: "2day the world lost a little piece of sunshine. My deepest condolences go out 2 Brittany's family, her husband, & her amazing mother Sharon. See you on the other side kid."

Murphy's 'Clueless' co-star, Alicia Silverstone, told People magazine: "I feel love in my heart for her - and hope she is at peace. This is truly sad. I loved working with Brittany. She was so talented, so warm and so sweet."

Lindsay Lohan's Twitter post read: "My deepest condolences go out to all of Brittany Murphy's loved ones & may she rest in peace... She was a great talent w/a beautiful soul xo."

On her Twitter page, Jessica Simpson wrote: "Brittany Murphy was an incredible ray of Light to so many people. Her smile was contagious. My prayers are with her family and loved ones."
