Jake and Elwood would feel it too

For some people the rush watching the scene where Jake and Elwood find their groove at Reverend Cleophus' Triple Rock Baptist Church in 'The Blues Brothers' never diminishes.

During the best moments of 'Doing Their Thing' you may get a similar desire to try and bounce your head off the ceiling.

Whether you believe or don't, this album's jams and charms work and the mix of traditional songs, spirituals, soul and curveball covers like 'Ain't No Mountain' and The Cranberries' 'You and Me' makes you want to buy a ticket for the next gig.

'Doing Their Thing' could be a few tracks too long, but in their take on Autamata's 'Liberty Bell' the DGC have given Dublin an anthem that's big on catchiness but light on coddle. Praise be indeed.

Harry Guerin
