There isn't a dull moment

Dizzee Rascal's fourth studio album, 'Tongue N' Cheek', immediately demands your attention with the insanely catchy 'Bonkers', and manages to keep the quality up to a similarly high standard throughout.

The album sees a departure for the British rapper, as he deliberately goes for a more pop-focused, mainstream sound. It's paid off for him, with three number one singles already ('Dance Wiv Me', 'Bonkers' and 'Holiday') and a wealth of future contenders for chart hits on the album.

There isn't a dull moment in the 40-minute duration of the record, and Dizzee's irrepressible energy is evident throughout. His sense of humour is on show here, too. On 'Road Rage', an industrial-sounding, fast-paced track he proclaims, "I'm a trooper, in a Mini-Cooper."

He goes for a bit of gangster-posturing on 'Money, Money', 'Freaky Freaky' and 'Bad Behaviour', all of which have enough catchy charm to carry their outlandish lyrics.

'Tongue N' Cheek' is an unembarrassed play for the mainstream, and luckily Dizzee has pulled it out of the bag to deliver an excellent album that shouldn't alienate too many of his diehard fans.
