The singers are taking part in an eight-day trek in Tanzania to raise money for Comic Relief, which will be filmed and aired in the run up to Red Nose Day on 13 March.

Cole, 25 added that while she and Walsh may not look their stylish best, they would act as a crutch for one another: "If we didn't have each other I think I'd struggle to get up there."

Speaking about the challenge Walsh, 27, said: "The make-up and hair thing's obviously not good. The comfort's good, the clothes are comfy and that's more important."

They are attempting to reach the top of Africa's highest mountain along with Gary Barlow, Alesha Dixon, Ben Shephard, Chris Moyles, Denise Van Outen and Fearne Cotton.

The nine celebrities will start their climb up Mount Kilimanjaro at the end of February.
