Brendan Gleeson named on BAFTA shortlist

'Slumdog Millionaire' and 'The Curious Case of Benjamin Button' lead this year's BAFTA shortlist with 11 nominations each.
Actress Kate Winslet received two nominations in the Best Actress category, for 'The Reader' and 'Revolutionary Road'.
Also making their mark on the list were 'The Dark Knight', with nine nominations, 'Changeling', with eight nominations, and 'Frost/Nixon', with six nominations.
Both 'In Bruges' and 'The Reader' received five nominations, while 'Milk' and 'Revolutionary Road' were each shortlisted four times.
The nominees for Best Film are 'The Curious Case of Benjamin Button', 'Frost/Nixon', 'Milk', 'The Reader' and 'Slumdog Millionaire'.
The category of Outstanding British Film will be contested by 'Hunger', 'Mamma Mia!', 'In Bruges', 'Man on Wire' and 'Slumdog Millionaire'.
Nominated in the Best Actor category are Frank Langella ('Frost/Nixon'), Dev Patel ('Slumdog Millionaire'), Sean Penn ('Milk'), Brad Pitt ('The Curious Case of Benjamin Button') and Mickey Rourke ('The Wrestler').
The shortlist for Best Actress includes Angelina Jolie ('Changeling'), Kristin Scott Thomas ('I Loved You So Long'), Meryl Streep ('Doubt') and Kate Winslet ('The Reader' and 'Revolutionary Road').
In the category of Best Supporting Actor, Brendan Gleeson will face competition from Robert Downey Jr ('Tropic Thunder'), Philip Seymour Hoffman ('Doubt'), Heath Ledger ('The Dark Knight') and Brad Pitt ('Burn After Reading').
The nominees for Best Supporting Actress are Amy Adams ('Doubt'), Penelope Cruz ('Vicky Cristina Barcelona'), Freida Pinto ('Slumdog Millionaire'), Tilda Swinton ('Burn After Reading') and Marisa Tomei ('The Wrestler').
The Best Director shortlist comprises of Clint Eastwood ('Changeling'), David Fincher ('The Curious Case of Benjamin Button'), Ron Howard ('Frost/Nixon'), Stephen Daldry ('The Reader') and Danny Boyle ('Slumdog Millionaire').
Television star Jonathan Ross is due to present the BAFTAs ceremony next month.
