Eoghan - Thrilled to be getting through on The X Factor each week

Linda McGee: First of all, congratulations on getting so far in the show.
Eoghan Quigg:
Thank you, thank you very much.

LM: It must be a dream come true for you getting to this stage in the competition, is it?
EQ:
Aye, I suppose it is. It's all I've wanted to do since I was a young boy and I feel like it's coming true as I keep going on every Saturday.

LM: What's the atmosphere like in the house at the moment? Is there much rivalry?
EQ:
No, it's a good friendly atmosphere.

LM: Was it a shock for everyone when Laura left last week?
EQ:
Aye, I think it was a shock for everybody. Laura was probably the one to beat. But it just goes to show you've competition from everybody.

LM: Do you get a fright when you see other contestants leaving unexpectedly, like Laura and Austin?
EQ:
It's harder to get in but you know you just have to get on with the competition.

LM: How are you feeling about Best of British week this Saturday?
EQ:
Good, aye. I feel good every week, you know.

LM: And you had some great news at home in Derry last week with the arrival of your new baby sister...
EQ:
I do, yeah.

EoghanLM: Is it hard being away from home when there's so much excitement going on?
EQ:
It's hard to be away from home because when things are happening you're not there. It's hard but I mean that's what the competition is all about.

LM: Do you know when you'll get to meet your new sister?
EQ:
I don't have a clue. I'm not really that sure.

LM: But your mother and your new sister are doing well, are they?
EQ:
Yeah, they are.

LM: How do you find Simon Cowell as your mentor?
EQ:
He's a good mentor. He believes in me and we get on well.

LM: Do you feel extra pressure now that Scott and Austin are gone and it's just you left flying the flag for the boys?
EQ:
No way. No, I don't feel any pressure at all.

LM: What has been your favourite moment of the series so far?
EQ:
My favourite moment would probably be getting through every week. On Saturday I think that was my best performance.

LM: Yeah, you seemed to get a great reaction from all of the judges last week...
EQ:
Yeah, I did.

LM: In terms of your confidence levels, does it mean a lot to you to get that positive feedback from the judges?
EQ:
Yeah, because I've never actually got a bad comment so I've got a 100% clean slate and I just want to keep that going.

LM: Are you getting plenty of support from Ireland?
EQ:
Yeah, a lot of support from the country.

LM: It must give you a boost when you see how many people travel over to see you every week, does it?
EQ:
Yeah, definitely. I get a boost the whole time.

LM: You've been to a few glamorous showbiz events since the show started. What has been the most exciting thing that you've got to do?
EQ:
Going to the premieres, on the red-carpet and all, was amazing.

EoghanLM: You've also got to meet some pretty big celebrities through the show's masterclasses. How has that been for you?
EQ:
It's really good but you don't go up and say: "Oh my God. Oh my God, it's you" because actually you've been watched more than them on TV for the last month, you know.

LM: Have any of those people been particular heroes of yours?
EQ:
Meeting Mariah Carey was amazing.

LM: We mentioned earlier about you not being able to go home to meet your new baby sister - with every week that goes by on the show, do you miss home more and more?
EQ:
I am missing home but you know I'm getting one step closer to the final every week.

LM: How tough is your weekly schedule? Are the rehearsals for the show exhausting?
EQ:
It is. It's really tiring but you get used to it.

LM: Which of the contestants do you get on best with?
EQ:
Diana, I probably get on with the best.

LM: It must be tough in the house each week after you come back from the live shows, particularly if someone has got very bad comments from the judges or do you all just try to support each other?
EQ:
You just get on with it, you know? Everyone just gets on with everything.

LM: Simon aside, how do you get with the other judges on the show?
EQ:
I get on well with the judges.

LM: Who first encouraged to get into singing?
EQ:
It was just something I liked. My mum and dad told me I could sing when I was a boy and I just went on from there.

Must Watch TV

  • - House

    10.00pm Sky 1

Can you believe it? It's the last ever episode of House. Eight seasons of medical conundrums, acerbic wit, questionable managerial style, drug addictions, psychiatric help, ill-fated romances, plus a prison sentence to boot, resulted in Dr Gregory House becoming one of TV's most memorable characters. The role nabbed Hugh Laurie a brace of Golden Globes plus a slate of Emmy nominations, catapulting the former Blackadder star to meteoric fame. At its peak, House was watched by 81.8 million people in 66 countries. Fittingly titled 'Everybody Dies' to bookend the 2004 pilot 'Everybody Lies', this emotional final prescription sees House examine his life and personal demons as he treats a drug-addicted patient (guest star James LeGros). Plus, former stars Jennifer Morrison, Olivia Wilde and Amber Tamblyn return; as does Kal Penn, who resumes his role as Kutner, the man who took his own life in Season Five. Dr Greg, we salute you!

  • - The Works

    11.15pm RTÉ One

And so it can be revealed . . . Tonight The Works broadcasts a special edition of the programme to announce Ireland's Favourite Painting. President Michael D. Higgins will unveil the most popular painting, as voted for by the public, in the company of presenter John Kelly. The general public had their say in assembled vox pops discussing the short-listed ten artworks. Meanwhile, art critic, Cristín Leach Hughes, and art enthusiast, TV producer Bill Hughes, discuss the original long-list of 100 paintings with Mike Murphy.

  • - Glee

    9.00pm Sky 1

School's out for summer at McKinley High and as some of our favourite Gleeks don their cap and gown, you might need those tissues handy for an emotional finale to season three of the hit musical comedy. As graduation arrives for the class of 2012, New Directions look to the past and present, while contemplating their futures. What does the big bad world have in store for Rachel, Finn, Santana, Kurt, Puck, Quinn, Mercedes and Mike? And how will the glee club kids left behind cope without their friends? With Rachel still hoping to make her New York dreams come true and maybe a wedding or two on the cards, there's lots to look forward to in this final fix. Fans needn't worry about bidding farewell to the graduates; many are already confirmed to return, one way or another, for a much-anticipated fourth outing.
