IT Crowd wins critical praise in US

The sitcom, which is written and directed by Irish 'Father Ted' script-writer Graham Linehan, was shown on the Independent Film Channel last night and despite its roots in British comedy tradition, most critics praised the show.
Robert LLoyd of the LA Times calling it "the funniest straight-ahead sitcom of the American fall television season".
There has as yet been no further indication that a planned American version of the show will develop beyond the pilot version made two years ago. 'The IT Crowd' was picked up by US network NBC and six episodes ordered but the subsequently cancelled after a regime change at the top of the organisation.
That may change again if Reuters reviewer Barrow Garron's prediction proves correct. In a positive assessment of the show, he wrote: "If the show gains any buzz on IFC, look for an American adaptation within a couple of years."
Production on Series Three of the 'UK version' of the "The IT Crowd" began this month.
