Jude Law calls for peace in Afghanistan

Law visited Afghanistan to promote a new documentary for the Peace One Day organisation, which campaigns for an annual global ceasefire on 21 September, the United Nations' International Day of Peace.
Reuters reports that addressing a news conference in the Afghan capital Kabul, Law said: "Please mark the day. The need now is greater than ever before."
Violence in Afghanistan has surged with over 2,500 people, including 1,000 civilians, killed in the conflict in the first six months of this year, according to aid agencies.
In 2007 Law filmed the documentary in Afghanistan to chart filmmaker Jeremy Gilley's 10-year journey to establish a world day of peace.
The film, 'The Day after Peace', premiered at the Cannes Film Festival in May and also features actress and rights activist Angelina Jolie.
