Antonio Banderas' film comes to Dublin
Thursday 28 February 2008The annual festival is returning to the Temple Bar venue from 19 to 30 March and will showcase films from Mexico, Argentina, Uruguay and Spain.
Banderas' film, 'Summer Rain'/'El Camino de los Ingleses' has already earned the actor-turned-director an award at this year's Berlin Film Festival. Set in the 1970s, the drama is a coming-of-age tale about a couple's first love, lust and obsessions.
This is the Málaga-born star's second time to direct a feature following 'Crazy in Alabama', the 1999 comedy which starred his wife Melanie Griffith.
The Spanish Film Festival will also screen new releases from other actors-turned-directors, including Gael García Bernal with his film 'Déficit' and Icíar Bollaín with 'Mataharis'.
During the course of the festival the IFI will screen director Juan Antonio Bayona's new film, 'The Orphanage' ('El Orfanato'), on a daily basis.
A selection of films from the festival will be travelling to the EYE Cinema in Galway on 24 and 25 March.
