Winehouse's dad prepared eulogy after overdose
Monday 15 October 2007The 'Rehab' singer was admitted to a London hospital last August after reportedly taking a cocktail of drugs.
Taxi driver Mitch was driven to prepare his memorial speech because he feared Winehouse would not survive the health scare, and he has blasted his troubled daughter's husband, Blake Fielder-Civil, for her downfall.
He told the Daily Star Sunday: "I wrote a eulogy for Amy myself last month. When she had her seizure and was taken to hospital, I really thought that could be it.
"The doctors told us even a whiff of another drug could kill her. When I found out Blake had given her more drugs, I couldn't believe it. It was as bad as someone holding a gun to my daughter's head."
Dad Mitch urged the singer to check in to rehab and finally beat her drug addictions, but he fears that Blake is stopping her from getting help.
He said: "Blake is a bad influence on her and I no longer toe the line and pretend he isn't. Amy is responsible for her own actions but, until he came along, she was staunchly against hard drugs.
"For Amy and Blake to beat their drug problems they have to go into rehab separately and he won't let her do that. I don't care about his health at all, other than because my Amy's happiness relies on it. In the end, she's my daughter. She's very strong and I love her. I trust she will be all right."
Meanwhile Rolling Stone's guitarist Ronnie Wood has advised Winehouse to stop associating herself with "losers".
The guitarist claimed that making friends with sensible people would be the best way for Winehouse to leave her addictions behind permanently.
He told Sky News: "You wish you could help them really. People like Amy should know how great they are, but often when you're living right in the middle of it, it's very hard to see what you have to offer.
"It has to come within her really, she has to feel more confident in herself. Hang out with winners, I think. No use hanging out with losers and dealers otherwise you'll end up in the sink."

- The Killing
Finally back in touch with Holder, Sarah reviews the case with him. They question why Rosie's backpack was dropped at the Larsen house two weeks after the murder. Was it the killer intending to torture the family, or was it a witness who felt remorse for not having come forward? Is it the same individual as the person with the Ogi Jun tattoo who was with Rosie on the Super 8 footage and who was also caught on the security camera at the Beau Soleil fire? Sarah and Holder stake out Janek's place and realise that Stan has apparently renewed his connection with the Polish mob. Still partially working outside the system, Sarah calls on a friend at the FBI to get more information about Janek and comes up with a new lead.

This second programme in the series about the history of football (the English kind!) examines life after independence as the FAI found itself with a mountain to climb to earn the right to call the national team 'Ireland'. The struggle was marked by the uneasy relationship between politics and sport, but the pain and heartbreak of failing to qualify for a major tournament was eased by a booming domestic league, which entered a golden era but would eventually see a decline as eyes turned towards the English game.
