NAACP award for U2's Bono
Tuesday 6 March 2007The National Association for the Advancement of Coloured People (NAACP) is America's oldest and largest civil rights organization
The Chairman's Award, which is bestowed in recognition of special achievement and distinguished public service, was given to Bono in recognition of his humanitarian efforts.
Oscar winners Forest Whitaker and Jennifer Hudson took awards for, respectively, Best Actor and Best Supporting Actress, the same prizes that they won at the Academy Awards.
'Grey's Anatomy' star Isaiah Washington was the winner of a Best Actor award, while 'Ugly Betty' won for Best Television Series.
Keke Palmer won Best Actress for 'Akeelah and the Bee', 'The Pursuit of Happyness', starring Will Smith and his son, took Best Picture, and Djimon Hounsou was the winner of Best Supporting Actor for 'Blood Diamond'.
Democratic presidential contender Barack Obama took a Literary Nonfiction Image Award for his book 'The Audacity of Hope: Thoughts on Reclaiming the American Dream'.
