Mirren and Whitaker BAFTAs royalty
Monday 12 February 2007Mirren was honoured with the Best Actress award for her performance in 'The Queen' while Whitaker won Best Actor for his performance in 'The Last King of Scotland'.
Both stars have also been Oscar nominated for their performances.
'The Queen' was also named Best Film while 'The Last King of Scotland' also won the Alexander Korda Award for the Outstanding British Film of the Year and the Best Adapted Screenplay award (Peter Morgan and Jeremy Brock).
Alan Arkin was named Best Supporting Actor for his performance in 'Little Miss Sunshine' while Jennifer Hudson was named Best Supporting Actress for her performance in 'Dreamgirls'.
The David Lean Award for Achievement in Direction went to Paul Greengrass for 'United 93' while Andrea Arnold won the Carl Foreman Award for Special Achievement by a British Director, Writer or Producer in Their First Feature Film for 'Red Road'.
The Best Original Screenplay award went to Michael Arndt for 'Little Miss Sunshine' and the award for a Film Not in the English Language went to 'Pan's Labyrinth'.
'Happy Feet' won the award for Best Animated Feature Film.
'Casino Royale' star Eva Green won the Rising Star Award.
