Christopher Hampton for IFI public interview
Wednesday 4 October 2006The interview will follow a 5.30pm screening of his film, 'Carrington' (1995), which he directed and adapted from Michael Holroyd's biography of Lytton Strachey.
Other films he has directed include 'Imagining Argentina' (2003) and 'The Secret Agent' (1996).
Films for which he has written screenplays include the screen adaptation of Ian McEwan's novel 'Atonement', which is scheduled for release in 2007 and 2002's Michael Caine-starring 'The Quiet American'.
Hampton's adaptations and translations for stage include 'Les Liaisons Dangereuses', which he also adapted for the 1988 Stephen Frears-directed film, winning an Oscar for Best Adapted Screenplay and a BAFTA for Best Screenplay.
His own plays include, most recently, 'The Talking Cure', which was performed at the Royal National Theatre, London, and starred Ralph Fiennes.
