Rhys Meyers wins at Golden Globes
Tuesday 17 January 2006He won in the Best Actor in a Mini-Series or Film Made for Television category for his performance in 'Elvis'.
Speaking to RTÉ's 'Morning Ireland' about his victory, Rhys Meyers said that he was shocked to win the award.
"You kind of dream that you'll win but you never think it will become a reality," he said.
The 28-year-old saw off the challenge of Belfast born actor Kenneth Branagh, Ed Harris, Bill Nighy and Donald Sutherland to win the award.
Speaking about his chances of being nominated for an Oscar, Rhys Meyers said: "There is a good chance, with 'Match Point' getting so much attention, that I might get a nod for that. But you never know, it's a very tough category."
Rhys Meyers was previously nominated for an Emmy award and won a Satellite award for his performance in 'Elvis'.
