Corrie actor Fleeshman wins Soapstar
Monday 16 January 2006The 16-year-old actor, who plays Craig Harris in the soap, beat fellow 'Coronation Street' star Andy Whyment (who plays Kirk Sutherland) to take the title.
"It was an absolute honour to be up against Andy," Fleeshman said. "He's such a nice guy, a genuinely nice guy."
When he was announced as the winner of the singing show, Fleeshman said: "It's amazing. It's all been worthwhile, it's just amazing."
The actor initially thought he had earned £50,000 for his charity, the Kirsty Appeal, which backs a children's hospice. Its fund-raising appeals are being led by Kirsty Howard, who was born with her heart the wrong way round.
The star was later told that an extra £50,000 would be presented to his charity following his victory.
