Not the most exciting record in the world

Broadcast are a bit of an oddity. Their label, Warp, is renowned for its formidable electronica roster, going right back to the days of Sweet Exorcist and LFO, through Aphex Twin and Boards Of Canada to Squarepusher and Autechre.

So it's not exactly the place you'd expect to find a classic indie band with a female vocalist, and despite some electronic stylings, that's exactly what Broadcast are.

They might mix up the guitar-bass-drums template with a layer of techno trimmings, but remain a fairly standard moody rock outfit. Not that it's a bad record. Openers 'I Found The F' and 'America's Boy' are a lively enough Ladytron-lite racket, and the band's sound is relatively strong.

If you're a fan of Stereolab or Le Tigre you might find something to like here, but it's not the most exciting record in the world and suffers a little from a distinct lack of character.
