Irish book raises €130,000 for tsunami victims
Monday 19 December 2005'Moments' features 39 stories by bestselling Irish authors including Maeve Binchy, Deirdre Purcell, Cecelia Ahern, Patricia Scanlan, Sheila O'Flanagan, Catherine Dunne, Kate Thompson, Pauline McLynn and Sarah Webb.
All of the authors donated their stories free of charge and the book was printed in a once-off, limited-edition 15,000 copy print-run.
Originally published last April, the book entered the Irish bestseller charts at Number One after only a week of sales.
Published on behalf of the publishers of Ireland by Irish Book Publishers' Association CLÉ, the promise was that every cent from the cover price of €10 would go to Irish development organisation GOAL in aid of the tsunami victims.
A cheque for €132,406 was presented to John O'Shea of GOAL last week by project co-ordinators Ciara Considine of Hodder Headline Ireland and Joseph Hoban of New Island.
