Knightley a Critics Choice nominee
Tuesday 13 December 2005Knightley is nominated for Best Actress for her performance in 'Pride & Prejudice' and joins Joan Allen ('The Upside of Anger'), Judi Dench ('Mrs Henderson Presents'), Felicity Huffman('Transamerica'), Charlize Theron ('North Country') and Reese Witherspoon ('Walk the Line') on the shortlist.
The nominees for Best Actor are: Russell Crowe ('Cinderella Man'), Philip Seymour Hoffman ('Capote'), Terrence Howard ('Hustle & Flow'), Heath Ledger ('Brokeback Mountain'), Joaquin Phoenix ('Walk the Line') and David Strathairn ('Good Night, And Good Luck').
George Clooney is among the Best Director nominees for his film 'Good Night, And Good Luck' and is joined on the shortlist by Paul Haggis ('Crash'), Ron Howard ('Cinderella Man'), Peter Jackson ('King Kong') and Steven Spielberg ('Munich').
Clooney is also nominated in two other categories: Best Supporting Actor for 'Syriana' and Best Writer for 'Good Night, And Good Luck'.
'Brokeback Mountain', 'Capote', 'Cinderella Man', 'The Constant Gardener', 'Crash', 'Good Night, And Good Luck', 'King Kong', 'Memoirs of a Geisha', 'Munich' and 'Walk the Line' are nominated for Best Picture.
The Best Ensemble Cast award will be contested by: 'Crash', 'Good Night, And Good Luck', 'Rent', 'Sin City' and 'Syriana'.
The other Best Supporting Actor nominees are: Kevin Costner ('The Upside of Anger'), Matt Dillon ('Crash'), Paul Giamatti ('Cinderella Man'), Jake Gyllenhaal ('Brokeback Mountain') and Terrence Howard ('Crash').
The Best Supporting Actress nominees are: Amy Adams ('Junebug'), Maria Bello ('A History of Violence'), Catherine Keener ('Capote'), Frances McDormand ('North Country'), Rachel Weisz ('The Constant Gardener') and Michelle Williams ('Brokeback Mountain').
The winners will be announced on 9 January; 'Brokeback Mountain' leads the field with eight nominations, while 'Crash' is nominated in six categories.
