U2 join Rock and Roll Hall of Fame

The ceremony at New York's Waldorf Astoria hotel also honoured The Pretenders, The O'Jays, Percy Sledge and Buddy Guy.
U2 were inducted into the Hall of Fame by Bruce Springsteen, who said the band were "the keepers of some of the most beautiful sonic architecture in the rock and roll world".
Bono described the gala ceremony as "a bit of an Irish wedding: beautiful girls and beautiful frocks and fights in the bathroom".
He used the opportunity to tell music industry bosses to rethink how they do business, saying that in today's climate U2 would have been dropped after sales of their second album 'October'.
"There would be no U2 the way things are now, that's a fact," he said. "Stars such as Springsteen and Neil Young, who also failed to have early hits, also would have failed to make the grade with today's music companies," he added.
Among the songs the band played at the ceremony were 'Pride', 'I Still Haven't Found What I'm Looking For' and 'Vertigo'.
