Stephen Fry cast in Hitchhiker's Guide movie
Friday 21 January 2005The movie is based on the best-selling books and TV series created by the late Douglas Adams, who also wrote the screenplay.
Adams died in 2001, aged 49, after suffering a heart attack while in the gym. He had recorded the part of Agrajag at his home studio before he died.
'The Office' star Martin Freeman will also star in the movie in the part of Arthur Dent, a baffled Englishman in space.
John Malkovich is set to play religious cult leader Humma Kavula, which is a new character created specifically for the film version of the story.
'Love Actually' star Bill Nighy has also been cast in the movie, playing planet designer Slaribarfast. The part of Ford Prefect is set to be played by hip-hop artist Mos Def.
Executive producer Robbie Stamp said that he believed writer Adams would have been very pleased with the casting of Stephen Fry. "His humour and intelligence are perfect for the voice of The Guide," he said.
