Ireland to stage Eurovision for Asia
Thursday 6 January 2005The concert, which will be staged on Sunday 23 January at the Olympia Theatre, Dublin, will feature 24 of the best Eurovision winning songs from the 1960s through to the present day.
Eurovision winners Linda Martin, Niamh Kavanagh, Paul Harrington, Charlie McGettigan and Eimear Quinn have all been confirmed to perform at the event.
Joining them at the fundraiser will be 'You're a Star' winners Mickey Harte and Chris Doran, as well as special guests Twink, Red Hurley and Shirley Temple Bar.
'Eurovision for Asia' will also feature a special performance of 'Riverdance', with Abhann Productions reproducing the original Eurovision interval act.
The show, which is devised and directed by theatre director Brian Merriman, will be hosted by television personalities Mary Kennedy and Carrie Crowley.
Tickets for the event can be purchased from Ticketmaster outlets nationwide, priced at €25 (standing), €40 (seated) and €25 (restricted vision seating). All proceeds go towards Asia relief projects.
