Zlata's Diary author for Writer's Festival
Tuesday 12 October 2004Filipovic, whose book was a chronicle of her teenage life in besieged Sarajevo, will open the Festival alongside Iraqi poet Choman Hardi on Friday night.
The Festival will continue until Sunday and writers attending include Niall Williams, Ulick O'Connor, Dermot Healy and Tony Curtis.

Sunday sees the annual Impressions debate and this year's topic is 'Planning For Our Past or: How I Stopped Worrying And Learned To Love Progress'.
This debate will look at the thorny issue of developing for the future whilst taking our cultural and environmental inheritance into account. Speakers featured include Eamon Ryan TD (Green Party), Michael Coady (Poet) and Sam Stephenson (Architect).
Children's author Darren Shan reads on the Sunday of the festival and the final event of the weekend on Sunday is the inaugural Laurence Sterne Lecture.
Ulick O'Connor will gives a lecture on Oliver St John Gogarty whose most famous prose book 'As I Was Going Down Sackville Street' is regarded as the modern equivalent of Laurence Sterne's 'Tristram Shandy'.
