McGregor to motorbike around globe
Tuesday 13 April 2004The actor will be joined on the three-month trek by best friend and fellow actor Charley Boorman, the son of legendary director John Boorman.
Speaking to BBC Breakfast today about the trip, McGregor said: "The idea came a couple of years ago when we were planning a much shorter route down to Europe somewhere. It just grew and grew and grew."
Both men have undergone extensive training for the adventure and their route will take them from London to Eastern Europe, across Kazakhstan, through Siberia, across the Bering Sea to Alaska and on to the Atlantic Ocean.
Their experiences will be filmed for a future documentary and they are also planning to turn their diary entries into a book.
