The Office scores BAFTAs hat-trick
Tuesday 23 March 2004Stars Ricky Gervais and Martin Freeman have been nominated for Best Comedy Performance while 'The Office Christmas Special' also makes the shortlist for Best Situation Comedy.
It is the third consecutive year that Gervais has been nominated for Best Comedy Performance; he has won the award the past two years.
He was also the shock winner of the Best Actor in a Musical or Comedy Series award at this year's Golden Globes.
The other programmes to receive three BAFTA nominations are 'Have I Got News for You', 'Little Britain' and 'State of Play'.
Jim Broadbent ('The Young Visiters' (sic)), Christopher Eccleston ('The Second Coming'), David Morrissey ('State of Play') and Bill Nighy ('State of Play') have all been nominated for Best Actor.
Gina McKee ('The Lost Prince'), Helen Mirren ('Prime Suspect'), Miranda Richardson ('The Lost Prince') and Julie Walters ('The Wife of Bath (Canterbury Tales)') are the Best Actress nominees.
The winners will be announced at a ceremony in London on 18 April.
