Tower acoustic set for Frank Black

Former Pixies frontman Frank Black will perform an acoustic set in Tower Records on Wicklow Street this Friday, 3 October.

Later that night Black, together with his band The Catholics, plays a sold-out gig at Vicar Street.

Monday 6 October sees the re-release of Frank Black & The Catholics eponymous album, which was originally released in 1998.

The album features eleven Frank Black songs and a raucous cover of Larry Norman's 'Six Sixty-Six'.

Other Frank Black & The Catholics albums that are available through the Cooking Vinyl label are 'Dog In Sand', 'Black Letter Days', 'Devils Workshop' and 'Show Me Your Tears' as well as Frank Black's 'The Cult of Ray' and the Pixies' 'Purple Tape' LP.

    With a budget of €10K, and 160 guests invited to their very special day, Franc is on hand to mentor Dublin couple Gemma Barnes and Gary Mackle as they endeavour to create their winter wonderland-themed wedding in Wexford. A wedding dress has to be found, and a ring needs to be re-worked all in an attempt to create a unique and cost effective 'wow' wedding. And Gemma and Gary head for Camp Franc to find out just how they can make their day perfect.

  • - Golf: PGA Championship

    2.30pm, BBC TWO

    Golf is one sport that looks amazing on TV, so here's another treat for couch potatoes. Hazel Irvine presents live coverage of the fourth and final round at Wentworth. Last year's final day culminated in a dramatic play-off between Luke Donald and Lee Westwood, and it was the former who emerged victorious to take the world number one spot off his compatriot. With so many Europeans dominating the top of the World rankings, viewers can expect a tight contest (and maybe an Irish win).
