Carrey comedy topples Matrix Reloaded
Tuesday 27 May 2003The film, which sees Carrey play a man given God's powers for a day, took an estimated $86.4m over the Memorial Day weekend.
Jennifer Aniston and Morgan Freeman co-star in the movie, directed by Tom Shadyac.
Sci-fi sequel 'The Matrix Reloaded' is now in second place, grossing $45.6m in its second weekend.
The only other US release at the weekend, 'The In-Laws' starring Michael Douglas and Albert Brooks, opened in fifth place on $9.1m.
