Moore's documentary bowls over WGA
Monday 10 March 2003The film, which examines gun violence in America, was the first documentary ever to make a WGA shortlist.
Speaking at the 55th annual awards, WGA West president Victoria Riskin said, "Our members' appreciation of Michael Moore's clever, humorous, and personal storytelling is a tribute to his vision and the power of his subject matter."
Best Adapted Screenplay went to David Hare for 'The Hours', which is based on Michael Cunningham's novel about author Virginia Woolf.
Other nominees included Nia Vardalos' 'My Big Fat Greek Wedding', Antwone Fisher's autobiographical drama 'Antwone Fisher', Todd Haynes 'Far From Heaven' and 'Gangs of New York', Martin Scorsese's 1860s epic by Jay Cocks, Steven Zaillian and Kenneth Lonergan.
