Chicago wins US Director's Guild award
Monday 3 March 2003The prize for 'Chicago' is seen as a key indicator of Oscars success: since 1949 only five DGA winners have not gone on to win an Oscar.
The other nominees were Martin Scorsese for 'Gangs Of New York', Roman Polanski for 'The Pianist', Peter Jackson for 'The Lord Of The Rings: The Two Towers' and Stephen Daldry for 'The Hours'.
This weekend, Marshall's Broadway adaptation passed the $100m mark at the US box office. 'Chicago' also leads this year's Oscars race with 13 nominations.
