Moore's Columbine is best documentary

Michael Moore's 'Bowling for Columbine' has been named the best documentary of all time.

The International Documentary Association (IDA) judged Moore's controversial film about American gun culture to be the best documentary.

'Bowling for Columbine' has won numerous awards at film festivals and is considered to be in the running for an Academy Award nomination.

Moore also took third place with his 1989 film 'Roger and Me', where he took General Motors to task for on factory closures in his hometown.

In second place was The Thin Blue Line (1988), about wrongful convictions that arose from the 1976 murder of a policeman in Dallas, Texas.

The IDA is a forum for documentary filmmakers and has 2,700 members in 50 countries.
