Grand Drive - See The Morning In

DB - 2002 - 46 minutes

With the release of third album 'See the Morning In', the brothers Wilson are only hitting their stride. As on last year's 'Love and High Adventure', they mix the American country of Gram Parsons and Neil Young with the soul sounds of Memphis, but this time round the production is somewhat scaled back. And letting the songs stand up for themselves is no bad idea, especially with song writing of this calibre.

There are genuinely touching moments, in particular on lost love song 'You and I' and the autumnal 'The Last Train to Heaven'. 'Track 40' is a nostalgia soaked essay on childhood while 'Needle in the Groove' kicks up its heels and 'Life is a Car' hits the country rockin' button just fine.

Rich romance, warm harmonies and timeless tunes to cherish. The future is looking bright for Grand Drive.
