French author wins IMPAC Award
Monday 13 May 2002The IMPAC Award - value €100,000 - is internationally recognised as the world's richest prize for a work of fiction.
Houellebecq will receive his award at a dinner in Dublin Castle on 15 June.
The Irish-based French author beat Margaret Atwood's Booker Prize winning novel, 'The Blind Assassin'.
The nominees also included Irish writer Michael Collins for his book 'The Keepers of the Truth'.
