Strokes clean up at NME Awards
Monday 25 February 2002The band, who won Best International Newcomer at the Brits last week, took home Best New Act, Band of the Year and the Album of the Year award for their debut 'Is This It'.
Gorillaz were nominated for four awards but won none, last week they were nominated for six Brits but also went home empty-handed.
U2 were named Best Live Act while Ash picked up Single of the Year for 'Burn Baby Burn'.
Kylie Minogue was named Best Pop Act while Ian Brown won Best Solo Artist.
Missy Elliott won Best Hip-Hop/Rap Act, Basement Jaxx Best Dance Act and Aaliyah was posthumously honoured in the R 'n' B/Soul Category.
'Moulin Rouge' was named Best Film and Best Music Video went to Radiohead for 'Pyramid Song'.
The Charlatans received a special award for Outstanding Contribution to NME and also won in the Best Radio Session category.
