'Lord of the Rings' hits cinemas worldwide
Thursday 20 December 2001'The Fellowship of the Ring' stars Elijah Wood as hobbit Frodo and Sir Ian McKellen as the wizard Gandalf.
There are two other films in the series - 'The Two Towers' and 'The Return of the King'. These have both been filmed by director Peter Jackson and will be released at Christmas 2002 and 2003.

With so many Europeans dominating the top of the World rankings, viewers can expect a tight contest (and maybe an Irish win).
