Gardaí investigate £3m painting heist
Tuesday 26 June 2001It is believed to be the third time that one of the paintings - a Gainesborough - has been stolen by criminals.
Reports say the men, who wore balaclavas, rammed their way into the building shortly after 12.30pm in a blue Volkswagon Golf car.
The car was later found abandoned at a nearby car park. The thieves then tried to hijack another car.
There are no reports of any injuries. A major Garda operation is now underway and roadblocks have been set up.
