Downey Jr to escape prosecution
Tuesday 15 May 2001Despite forensic tests proving that the actor had cocaine in his bloodstream, the latest incident will be treated as a violation of parole rather than a new charge.
A parole violation can incur a prison sentence but California state officials ruled out this possibility on Monday.
Downey Jr was released from prison in August 2000 having completed 14 months of a three-year sentence for drug offences.
