Ireland's Kirsten McGarry came 32nd out of 54 competitors in the ladies' Giant Slalom in the Winter Olympics in Turin today.

McGarry completed the event in 2:22.87, while the USA's Julia Mancuso won gold in a time of 2:9.19.

Mancuso, who has never won a World Cup race, held on to her first-leg lead to finish 0.67 seconds ahead of Tanja Poutiainen, who became Finland's first Olympic medallist in the sport.

Sweden's Anna Ottosson took bronze.
