Dubliner Barry Murphy narrowly missed out on winning his second consecutive medal in the second of the World Cup swimming meets in Berlin.

Having won a bronze in the opening gala in Eindhoven on Wednesday, the 27-year-old finished fourth in the final of the 50m breaststroke, missing out on the bronze by .01 of a second to Germany's Hendrick Feildweir.

Murphy though had the consolation of breaking his own Irish record yet again clocking 26.38 seconds.

Fiona Doyle was 10th overall after the heats of the women's 100m breaststroke in 1.07.20

There was a new Irish junior record for Curtis Coulter in the 100m free swimming 49.34 seconds for 18th overall which took .06 a second off Conor Leaney's 2008 record.
