Ulster Bank: UL relegated, Shannon must play-off

UL Bohemians were relegated to Division 1B of the Ulster Bank League despite a 35-7 win over Cork Con yesterday.

Fellow Limerick side Shannon beat Lansdowne and finished one place above UL to secure a relegation / promotion play-off with UCD, who finished in second place in 1B.

Ballynahinch won automatic promotion from 1B finishing as champions ahead of the Students.

Ballymena and Bruff finished in the bottom two spots in 1B and were automatically relegated.

In Division 2A, Terenure College and Corinthians won promotion, while Midleton and De La Salle Palmerston went the opposite way.

They are joined by Greystones who lost a relegation / promotion battle with Naas, 44-23 at Dr Hickey Park.

The Kildare side join Rainey Old Boys and NUIM Barnhall, who took the two automatic promotion places.

Provincial Towns Cup finalists Tullamore will play in Division 2B next season after winning the round-robin series, while Clonakilty lost their AIL status after a 26-23 loss to Richmond in a relegation / promotion play-off.
