Kim Clijsters ensured her place at the top of the WTA world rankings by beating Jelena Dokic today in the quarter-finals of the GDF Suez Open.
The Belgian was a convincing 6-3 6-0 winner over her Australian opponent, and will take over top spot from Caroline Wozniacki when the new rankings are released next week.
Clijsters is the top seed in Paris and is now aiming to add another trophy to the Australian Open title she won last month.
'I am happy to regain the number one here in Paris as I feel like it's close to home in Belgium,' Clijsters said.
'I'm proud that I have achieved this in my second career and as a mom. I hope that I can now go on and win the tournament.'
