Cox wins Irish Open tennis title
Saturday, 24 July 2010Britain's Daniel Cox defeated number 7 seed Andrea Falgheri of Italy in three sets to claim the Green Property Men's Irish Open today.
He won in three sets, 6-1, 3-6, 6-3, in a match that lasted just over two hours.
Cox, who beat Irish players Daniel Glancy and James McGee en route to the finals, started well in the match, after breaking Falgheri in the third game and winning the next five games in a row.
In the second set, Falgheri broke Cox in the fourth game, and despite handing back the break four games later, went on to win the second set.
In the deciding set, Cox got the crucial break in the sixth game, taking the next two games to win the third set and the Men's Irish Open Singles title.
