McGee's run in Irish Open comes to an end
Friday, 23 July 2010 21:13Irish interest in the Green Property Men's Irish Open Singles title ended this afternoon when Daniel Cox of Great Britain beat the number 5 seed James McGee in three sets.
Despite McGee taking the first set 6-0, Cox stormed back to take the next set 6-1 before the final set went to a tight tie break which Cox eventually won 7-6 (4).
Earlier today Andrea Falgheri (ITA) defeated Misoslav Mecir (SVK) 6-3 2-6 6-3.
Falgheria now plays Cox in tomorrow's final which commences on Centre Court in Fitzwilliam at 2.30pm.
In the doubles final this evening, Irishmen James Cluskey and Colin O'Brien, the number 2 seeds, defeated Ireland's Barry King and his team-mate Colin Ebelthite of Australia, the number 4 seeds, on a scoreline of 6-2 7-6 (1).
