Russia's Nikolay Davydenko has pulled out of this week's Davis Cup tie against India with a wrist injury and could also miss the Sony Ericsson Open later this month.

‘He is seeing doctors right now,’ Russia Davis Cup captain Shamil Tarpishchev told reporters during Thursday's draw after replacing the world number six with Igor Andreev for the first-round tie at Moscow's Luzhniki arena.

Davydenko, who has not played since retiring injured in the second round of the Dubai Championships last month, may have to miss the $4.5million tournament in Miami, which he won in 2008.

‘If the injury is serious enough it may take a few weeks for him to fully recover,’ Tarpishchev said.

The Sony Ericsson Open starts on 24 March.
