French top seed Gael Monfils on Sunday landed his second career title and snapped a four-year barren run when he landed the Moselle Open in Metz, France, beating German Philipp Kohlschreiber 7-6 (7/1), 3-6, 6-2.

Monfils, who has over the past few years had to battle Osgood Schlatter's disease - more commonly dubbed 'growing pains' which have caused pain in his knees - became the third Frenchman to land an ATP title this season after Jo-Wilfried Tsonga and Jeremy Chardy to add to his success in Sopot, Poland, in 2005.

After a hard-fought opening set Monfils moved up a gear in the ensuing tiebreak.

Kohlschreiber levelled the final by taking the second set as the Frenchman dropped his first set of the week.

But the world number 13 broke for a 4-2 lead in the decider which proved decisive as Kohlschreiber conceded defeat with a volley into the net.
