James Scully was unable to add to his medal haul at the IPC World Swimming Championships as he finished eighth in the Men's 50m S5 backstroke.

Scully, who had already secured a bronze medal in the S5 200 metre freestyle final, was unable to improve on his heat time in the backstroke.

The Meath man had snatched the last qualifying place in the final and could do little as Daniel Dias, who also won gold in the S5 200 metre freestyle, won the race.

Britain's Andrew Mullen took the silver medal with New Zealand's Leslie Cameron taking bronze.
