No progression for Irish swimmers in Friday's action at the European Championships

For the first time this week, Irish swimmers at the European Swimming Championships at Debrecen in Hungary failed to progress beyond the morning heats.
Sycerika McMahon, Melanie Nocher and Bethany Carson were all eliminated from the 200 metres freestyle, while Karl Burdis finished eight in his heat of the men's 200 metres backstroke.
Burdis, however, attempted to make the Olympic A qualifying standard in the heats for the 100 backstroke, but his time of 56.56 seconds was over two seconds slower than the time required.
