Seven strong Irish team for European Championships

Swim Ireland have announced their team for the 2012 European Senior Swimming Championships taking place in Debrecen, Hungary from 21-28 May.

The seven strong squad will travel to the competition with hopes of achieving qualification for the summer Olympic Games in London, in their individual events as well as in the women’s 4x200m Freestyle relay team.

The team are Karl Burdis, Bethany Carson, Fiona Doyle, Sycerika McMahon, Nuala Murphy, Melanie Nocher and Shani Stallard.

Grainne Murphy and Barry Murphy, who have both already achieved the qualification standard for the Olympics, will not attend the European’s, opting instead to remain at their training bases.

The team departs for Hungary on 18 May.
