Bree books World championship place

Ireland's squad for the upcoming World Championships in Rome now stands at 12 after Olympian Andrew Bree qualified for the men's 100 and 200 metres breast stroke at a meet in Athens, Georgia.

Bree, who competed the Beijing Olympics in China last year, won the 100 metres breast stroke in a time of 1 min and 3 seconds, while he followed that up by winning the 200 in a time of two minutes and 15 seconds.

It is likely that the squad numbers will rise to 13 as Dubliner Barry Murphy has yet to set a qualifying time but is likely to do so over the coming weeks.
