Bree books World championship place
Sunday, 17 May 2009 13:37Ireland's squad for the upcoming World Championships in Rome now stands at 12 after Olympian Andrew Bree qualified for the men's 100 and 200 metres breast stroke at a meet in Athens, Georgia.
Bree, who competed the Beijing Olympics in China last year, won the 100 metres breast stroke in a time of 1 min and 3 seconds, while he followed that up by winning the 200 in a time of two minutes and 15 seconds.
It is likely that the squad numbers will rise to 13 as Dubliner Barry Murphy has yet to set a qualifying time but is likely to do so over the coming weeks.
