Bree qualifies for Beijing Olympics
Tuesday, 31 July 2007 17:45Andrew Bree has become the first Irish swimmer to qualify for the Olympic Games in Beijing when he qualified fourth fastest in the men's 200m breaststroke at the US National Championships in Indianapolis today.
Bree swam in a time of 2:13.44 seconds, breaking the three-year old Irish senior record by 0.72 of a second.
He is ranked fourth going into the A final later today, behind world record holder Brendan Hansen of the US.
